Privacy Statement
The Privacy Act 1993 seeks to provide protection for individual privacy in relation to the collection, use, access, correction and disclosure of personal information held by any public and private sector "agency" (eg. Waitakere City Council). Personal information may be collected only for a lawful purpose connected with a function or activity of
the Council and only if necessary for that purpose. Such information must, as a general rule, be collected directly from the individual concerned and that person must be told why the information is needed.
The Council holds information about ratepayers and residents of Waitakere City in its role as an agency. This information is required for lawful purposes used in the functioning of Waitakere City Council, and is sourced and held in accordance with Principle 2 and Part 7 (Public Registers) of the Privacy Act. You have the right to access information about yourself and have it corrected (an application must be made in writing).
Enquiries about or formal requests for information in relation to the Privacy Act 1993 or the
