Introduction

Vision:

To provide quality, outdoor recreational facilities which reflect the lifestyle of Waitakere residents while protecting and enhancing our natural environment.

Aims:

  • Quality parks close to where you live, which you are proud of
  • Big city wide parks, used by everyone
  • Parks designed for multiuse and catering for the needs of different people
  • Quality sports fields which attract wide and extended use
  • Parks which are visible, safe and attractive
  • A diverse range of parks with natural, historic and cultural features
  • "Green Networks" which connect the Waitakere Ranges with the sea 
  • Bush clad parks with clean streams which are home to native wildlife
  • Public green spaces in town centres
