In conjunction with Matariki celebrations
all across the motu, Waitakere Library and Information Services are entertaining
3 performances at Waitakere Central Library.
Two story times

The legends of Maui -Te Ika on 29 & 30 June
The legends of Maui -Te Ika is one of the many stories about the famous Maori
ancestor Maui, the story talks about the many achievements that he accomplished
from a child growing up into a young man and then an amazing super hero!
Rewi Spraggon the storyteller and Riki Bennett the sound maker take you on a
journey transforming you back in time with the emotional sounds of Taonga Puoro
(traditional Maori instruments) and a number innovate contemporary sounds which
influence this epic tale.
Spraggon and Bennett and are both television presenters on Maori TV informing
the nation on the importance of our environment and teaching families how to
grow their own gardens to feed their families.
The Legends of Maui is a real family treat and a must see.
Musician Anna Coddington performs at Waitakere
Central Library on 30 June
Anna Coddington is one of Aotearoa's foremost Maori female musicians of
independent pop music.
With the release of her debut, self-produced album The Lake in 2008 Anna has
established herself as more than just a blip on the NZ music radar.
She has embarked on a number of NZ-wide tours, turning many heads and welcoming
many new fans and friends to the stable.

and the sophistication of her lyrics...Coddington captured the essence of a
