Audio books

Popular titles available in Audio format - on CD and cassette tape. Also see Special Needs Services.

Bestseller collection

The bestseller collection is designed for our borrowers who enjoy reading popular titles but don't want to wait for the book or buy their own copy. These books are prominently displayed so that borrowers who don't have time to browse to shelves can get books they want quickly This service enables you to have the latest bestselling titles for a charge of $5.00 for 14 days. All bestseller titles are duplicated in our borrowing collection.

DVDs

There is a wide range of DVD titles available from all our libraries for a small rental fee - $2.00 for 7 days. These include classic movies, how to, music, history, children's movies, captioned titles and more.  Check out this month's audio-visual featured titles.

Magazines

Over 250 different magazine titles covering many topics of interest and appealing to all age groups are held at the Libraries. They can be borrowed for 2 weeks, for free, and can also be requested. You can look for titles online in our library catalogue or enquire in person at the branch libraries.

Children's Literature Research collection

An extensive collection of books, which may be viewed only in the reference room, Waitakere Central. Includes New Zealand writers and illustrators, major international award winners, ground breaking works, and books about children's literature, writers and illustrators. Dates from the 1800's to the present.

Stack Collection

The Waitakere Library Stack Collection holds fiction and Non-fiction titles (download below)  that may be out of print, on obscure subjects, or of local interest. They are all searchable on our online catalogue and available on request.
