Community Assistance Funds

Ongoing feedback from community over the past two years
highlights the council's funding application form was
complex, multiple funds duplicated effort and it took to
long for applications to be processed. People also said the
funding policy excluded local initiatives and activities by
not supporting costs for food, cultural activities and
individuals.
As a result the result Council has made the following
changes:
- One policy - Community Assistance Fund, aligned with
council's strategic priorities.
- Separate opening and closing dates.
- The fund is available to groups and
can cover catering costs and cultural activities.
- Due to confusion and complications of completing an
application form for all funds, we have decided that
each fund must have it's own application form.
Please make sure you are completing the correct
application for the correct fund.
- A speed up of the process through enabling
Community
Boards to make allocations without having to report to
the Finance and Operation Performance Committee, and the
establishment of a subcommittee that meets three times a year
to review the fund applications and
allocations.
There are no changes to the amount of funding Council
provides through way of grant the intent of each individual
grant remains. The changes will see a streamlined process
which will benefit the community. For the 2009-2010
Financial year, Waitakere City Council made changes to the
following funds.
