Author of six novels, her latest Edwin and Matilda, an unlikely love story, was fiction runner-up at the 2008 Montana Book Awards. An Artists to Antarctica fellowship led to her previous novel Degrees of Separation and last year Laurence held the Robert Burns Fellowship at the University of Otago. She talks with her publisher Geoff Walker of Penguin Books about her novels and writing life.
