On 6 October 2005 the City Development
Committee approved the draft Parks and Open Space Strategy for consultation.
It is an update of the Parks Strategy which was written in 1999.
The Parks and Open Space Strategy has two important functions. The first is
bringing together a vision for how we want our parks to look in the future and
the second is setting out the key steps to get us there.
The Strategy details the approach for managing and developing parks over the
next 10 years in Waitakere City. It also outlines the direction and establishes
the long term vision for parks for the next 50 years and beyond.
The Parks and Open Space Strategy outlines a wide range of open space issues
from biodiversity, landscape values, recreational needs to cultural and heritage
issues.
The Strategy is available below. Hard copies are
also available for viewing at all
