Plan
We sought your views on what Waiatarua should
look and feel like in the future. We have listened
to what you value and enjoy about this place, what
you want to see change, what you want to stay the
same and how you imagine Waiatarua will look in 50
years' time.
The outcome is the Waiatarua Local Area Plan
which was adopted by Council on 3 December 2009. To

The Waiatarua Local Area Plan represents the
outcome of submissions and a series of
conversations, meetings and workshops with members
of the Waiatarua community and research into the
ideas and visions for the future. The workshops and
meetings held between November 2008 and May 2009
provided a chance for Council to listen to residents
about the kind of future they wanted for Waiatarua.
Submissions on the Waiatarua Local Area Plan were
received during August and September 2009.

Council has proposed a plan change to include the
outcomes of the Waiatarua Local Area Plan in the
Waitakere District Plan. View the
