Introduction

Summer Slamz, West Auckland's very own extreme summer festival slams down again on Saturday 27th February 2010 11am-5pm Te Pai Park, Henderson and participation is everything say organisers. Whether it's on stage or at the skate/bike park, they want you involved.

With both the Cheapskates Skate and Bike Barn BMX competitions onsite you can see how those tricks you've practiced all summer stack up in front of the professional judges or pick up some tips from the more advanced riders and pros. Registrations for the skate and BMX competitions are on site from 11am and incredible prize packages worth $1000's are up for grabs from Cheapskates, Bike Barn and Adio. A jump box is also onsite for all big air lovers.

This year also sees the inclusion of a 2nd music stage from Zeal and Global Cafe the purpose built music performance and recording facility in central Henderson that has seen Zeal working to develop opportunities for local bands since it's opening in 2008. "This is an amazing opportunity for local acts - the chance to play on the bill with established major New Zealand artists and in front of a large home crowd," says Stacey Hitchcock from Zeal. "The Global Cafe venue can hold 500 max whereas Summer Slamz sees between 3000-5000 at the festival - it's that next step of experience and exposure for these musicians many of whom like Edge of Fury, Blue Room Experiment and Lemon Pie are all still in their teens."

This year's main stage lineup of acts includes the now iconic pop rock outfit Elemeno P who appear ageless and RnB/Rapsters Smashproof still riding high after the success of 'Brother' feat Gin Wigmore which spent 11 weeks at No 1 in 2009. Support comes from The Earlybirds hot off a summer tour with The Feelers and Jordan Luck and openers TheseFourWalls.
