Push Play
Push Play is a nationwide campaign developed by Sport and
Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) to get more New Zealanders more active, more
often. Push Play is based on the fact that even small amounts of activity are
good for your health and that you don't have to be involved in traditional
'sport' to be active.
Here are some quick ideas for what you can do today, tomorrow or
on the weekend:
-
Take the stairs instead of the lift.
-
Walk to the shops rather than drive.
-
Get off the bus early and walk.
-
Park the car further away from the office and walk.
-
When you walk, step out briskly.
-
Wash your car by hand.
-
Use chores around the garden to work up a sweat.

Push Play Month 2009
3 October - 8 November
Push Play Month is a celebration all about getting active.
Why
does it run for so long? Well studies have shown that it takes at least three
weeks for something to become a habit.
Get some friends and whanau together and make physical activity
a habit in your lives. It's up to you how you incorporate physical activity into
your life; walk to the dairy to get the milk, get out in the garden or wash your
dishes by hand instead of putting them in the dishwasher.
Check out this years Push Play Planner for loads of free and low
cost activities and events going on out West during Push Play Month.
