Sport Waitakere

Sport Waitakere is the lead agency for sport and physical activity in the region. Their vision is that Waitakere is an increasingly active community and successful sporting region. Their purpose is to enrich lives through physical activity and sport.

On a day to day basis Sport Waitakere leads or collaborates on over 70 projects annually in order to:

• Encourage participation
• Build capability
• Provide leadership

Sport Waitakere is generously supported by Waitakere City Council with a particular focus on the following outcomes:

• Push Play Nation

• Coordination of the Waitakere Sporting Excellence Awards
• Development of a regional Sport Development Strategy
• Development of a regional Volunteer Strategy
• Development of a Sports Club Taskforce

Sport Waitakere works with a range of individuals and organisations within the region including:

• Education (Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, Alternative Education Providers, Tertiary)
• Sports organisations (Clubs, Regional Sports Organisations)
• Health agencies
• Physical activity providers
• Disability sector
