Having your say at Council meetings

Did you know that you are able to talk to the City's councillors and community board members about your issues and concerns at their monthly meetings?

Anyone can speak in the Public Forum session, held before meetings of the Council or at its four Community Boards.  The Council meeting is held on the last Wednesday of the month and Community Board meetings are held during the first week of the month.
What's involved? Contact the Committee Secretary Meeting schedule

What's involved?

  • If you wish to speak at the main Council meeting, you will need to contact the Committee Secretary at least five days before the meeting.

  • If you wish to speak at one of the monthly Community Board meetings, you do not need to give notice to the Committee Secretary, but it is recommended.

  • You can speak for a maximum of five minutes.

  • You may not verbally criticise staff or question or debate with elected members.

  • Elected members can ask questions after your address.

  • No resolution will be made on your presentation, but council officers may be asked for a report. This will come back to a subsequent meeting.

Contacting the Committee Secretary

Please email your request to address the meeting to the appropriate Committee Secretary.  Alternatively, contact us with your request or if you require more information.
