Special Areas of Interest

II enjoy all aspects of council work and find the large and diverse range of responsibilities challenging and stimulating.  All work is important from infrastructure (in particular water planning), safe city issues, to improving urban design for modern living, to building the economy of the city for jobs close to home and working for more stringent financial controls - accountability to our ratepayers.

II have special interest in the areas of education, the contribution of arts and culture to building healthy communities, and the development of top facilities, such as libraries, parks,  culture and sports venues.

Past Experience

I have lived and worked in Waitakere for over 30 years - as a teacher, social worker, school guidance counsellor, project manager and ten years co-owner of a large business in concrete construction.  I hold an Oxford University M.Sc in Social Policy and a Diploma in Public Relations.

Family Interests

My twin daughters and three grandchildren live and work in Waitakere.  Leisure time is spent with family and friends working in the garden.  I play the piano and enjoy movies, theatre and cooking.
