Compost
Bins
What is a compost bin?
Compost bins have a capacity of 230 litres. They are best used for composting lawn clippings,
food waste, tree
pruning etc. To make good compost using a compost bin, you'll need to add plenty of woody substances such as
twigs or untreated sawdust. Composting instructions are provided with bins.
Where do I get a compost bin?
Compost bins are set up at the Refuse & Recycling Station and can be viewed there by customers.
Council has compost bins for sale (to residents of Waitakere City only) for $35. Delivery is
included in the price. You will need to pay at the Civic Centre cashiers or at a service centre, or send a cheque to
Council. Once money is received, bin delivery will be arranged.
