Manutewhau

Footbridge over Manutewhau streamThis walkway is named after the Manutewhau Stream which runs through Moire Park in Massey.

You can paddle in the cool shallow water and marvel at the sculptured steam bed or wander through the lush native bush, some of the best remaining in the Waitakere urban area.

A special treat is a very long footbridge which crosses Lawsons Creek, linking Allington Rd and Realm Esplanade with West Harbour Drive: a good spot to watch the activity on the estuary below.

Enjoy a picnic afterwards in St Margaret's or Moire Park in the many open grassy areas while children play on the playground, fly a kite or kick a ball around on the sports fields: a spectacular site when the surrounding trees change colour in autumn.

How to get there

Head for Massey.  Access via Moire Park from Allington Rd, Granville Drive, Moire Rd, Royal Rd, West Harbour Drive or Oriel and Holmes Drive.
