There are over 500 parks and reserves in Waitakere City. The Council is responsible for developing park facilities and maintaining the city's green spaces.

Out of the 554 parks and reserves in Waitakere City, four are owned by Auckland Regional Council (ARC) and managed by us, and 14 are owned by us but managed by ARC.

Community Park Rangers

The role of the Community Park Ranger is an important link between the community and the Council's Parks team. Rangers are the eyes and ears of the community, reporting on anything from vandalism, graffiti and litter to providing information and education to the public.

Rangers are also encouraged to build relationships with their local people and community groups to promote safer parks and communities. Rangers perform a voluntary, custodial role to the Council and the community.
