Armour Bay

An ideal place for families with children. Here they can frolic in the sea, indulge in a game of petanque or play games on the large flat common and there are rock pools to explore too.  At the days end, after all that sun and sea enjoy a barbecue on site (you'll need some coins).  For the energetic there are tennis courts (perhaps the City's most scenic ones) and a boat ramp for launching dinghies or kayaks.

How to get there
Take the road to Huia - go just past Parau and turn left at Armour Bay Rd at the sign marking Armour Bay Reserve.

Cornwallis Beach

On the way to Huia, stop and check on the progress of the Auckland Regional Council's wharf restoration project at Cornwallis. (Wharf, Carpark)

Green Bay Beach

The Karaka Park coastal walk runs along the top of the cliffs at Green Bay. Either walk along the beach, with its beautiful views across the Manukau harbour and rockpools to fossick in, or take the high track through the coastal pohutukawa and kowhai forest.

Facilities: B, T, W

Herrings Cove

A pretty cove at the bottom of South Titirangi Rd. You will need a low tide to explore the beach.

Huia Reserve

Access is from Huia Road to these extensive views to the Manukau headlands.  There is a picnic table, small playground, basketball half-court and a half pipe for skating. Huia Reserve is safe for swimming or you can walk along the beach at low tide. Close to the Lower Huia Dam walkway.

Facilities: R, T, S, W

Jenkins Bay

One of many small beaches near Titirangi, the Alex Jenkins Memorial Reserve has picnic tables, and a boat ramp.

Facilities: R, T

Sandy's Parade

Park at the water's edge on the Parade.

There is easy access to a dairy, playground, basketball court and skate ramp, or take a walk through bush clad Warner Park.

Wood Bay

A popular and easily accessible picnic spot on the Manukau harbour with a high tide boat ramp.

French Bay

Comprising shelly beach, grassed recreational area and surrounded by a fringe of pohutukawa trees. Take a short stroll along the coastal cliff to Opou Reserve where the sea scouts are based. French Bay is also the home of the French Bay Boating Club and NZ Volunteer Marine Time Search and Rescue service.

Titirangi Beach

Just minutes from the Town centre along Titirangi Beach Road, this beach is ideal for parking up.

Watch wading birds on extensive mudflats exposed at low tide.  There is a playground and toilets available also.

Davies Bay

A small bush track leading beneath large oak trees guides you from Paturoa Road to Davies Bay. No vehicle access.

Foster Bay

A small sheltered cove at Huia with a boat ramp for local use.

Relax on the grassy bank with a picnic.
