Litterbins are checked and emptied if necessary, on a
daily basis up to twice in major commercial centres, up to six times a week for minor commercial centres and
at least once a week for other locations.
However, if a litterbin is overflowing, please contact us and the contractor will be sent out to empty the litterbin.
Request for a new litterbin, or for relocation or removal of existing bin
A Council Officer will investigate requests for litterbin
installations, however, it should be noted that litterbins
are sometimes illegally used for the disposal of household
or commercial waste causing the bin to overflow and creating
litter problems. In addition, offensive smells may emanate
from litterbins if food waste or dog faeces are illegally
placed in the bin. As the Council does not want to install a
litterbin in an inappropriate location, a thorough
investigation is carried out before a bin is installed.
