Digital Photography @ the Learning Centres

During May and June the Learning Centres ran several digital photography related programmes, including a series of 1 hour digital photography workshops to aid digital camera owners to get more from their cameras, as well as two digital photography competitions.

Wacky Waitakere Photo Competition

During May we asked you to submit creatively composed photographs as part of our involvement with the Auckland Festival of Photography. We wanted photos of familiar locations around Waitakere, but as we tried to make it a little more fun for everyone, we wanted the photographs of the locations to be taken in a way that the featured scene was not immediately obvious to the viewer. Familiar places seen from a new perspective, it was a chance to get really innovative and win some great prizes.

We had some fantastic entries, with some really creative photos, and we would like to say thanks to everyone who entered, we really appreciate the creative effort you all put into your photos. Each of the ten selected images has won a great prize pack, you can view the ten winning photos here

Where In Waitakere Photo Competition

During June we asked you to try and find the scenes in the ten winning photos from the Wacky Waitakere Photo Competition. This was a giant photographic treasure hunt, which lots of you decided to take part in. The winner was drawn from all the entries that had correctly identified all of the 10 scenes, and was Tyler from Ranui. Well done Tyler, your answers were also very detailed, most impressive for a one so young!

As part of the entry form we asked you to vote which photo you liked the most, the photo receiving the most votes would win a rather posh colour digital printer generously donated by Hewlett Packard. The photo voted the best by the Public was taken by Peter Borman. Peter took the photo of Piha. Well done Peter and everyone who took part!
