This humble bach in Otitori Bay Road was owned and lived in by the McCahon family in the 1950s, an enormously significant and prolific period of painting in Colin McCahon's life.
The house was purchased by the Council in 1999 and is being developed as a heritage site and an active residency programme by a trust.
