Our goals

Three goals for the library service were adopted by Council in 1996. These are:

  • Library services will provide encouragement for all people to broaden their leisure and learning interests, enrich their activity and cultural life and reach their full potential
  • Libraries will be centres for the City's communities.

Our principles

A guiding principle for the library service is that it is recognised as a proactive influence in the overall development of the City and its people. More specifically, the library service will have the following as principles for provision (in no priority order):

  • equity and open access
