Draft New Zealand Refining Company Marsden Point Refinery to Wiri Oil Pipeline

Notice of Requirement

The New Zealand Refining Company has lodged a notice of requirement to designate the existing Marsden Point Refinery to Wiri oil pipeline.  The proposed wording of the designation would require that anyone undertaking certain works within a set distance of the pipeline would need to obtain the written approval of the New Zealand Refining Company. The proposed wording is set out in the attached notice.

The pipeline is existing and the proposed designation does not include any new pipelines, nor any additions to the existing pipeline.

Submissions closed at 5 pm on Wednesday 20 June 2007.

The hearing was scheduled for 31 October 2007 and will be heard jointly with Auckland City Council, Manukau City Council and Waitakere City council.

Decision issued 14 August 2008.

Route of Existing New Zealand Refining Company Pipeline

The oil pipeline extends 161 kilometres, starting at Salle Road, Marsden Point in Northland, ending at the Wiri Oil Services Terminal in Manukau City. Please refer to the attached map showing the location of the pipeline within Waitakere City.

Under section 168 of the Resource Management Act, notices of requirement have been lodged with Auckland City Council, Manukau City Council and Waitakere City Council. These notices are being jointly publicly notified.
