Each report presents an overview of the information which is currently
available and the issues and options in relation to stormwater and waterway
management in that specific catchment. The following key objectives form the
basis for these reports:
To review the information available in relation to issues within urban
stormwater units.
To identify the specific issues present with the stormwater management
unit.
To identify the stormwater management strategies for the stormwater
management unit (in terms of types of solutions, programmes, tools or rules
that should be applied) that address the issues and have the potential to
bring about potential improvement of the receiving environment or prevent
further degradation.
To examine the applicability of the identified solutions for each
stormwater unit.
The issues and relationships associated with stormwater features, processes
and activities that influence rainwater as it runs off land into waterways have
been explored for each stormwater management unit.
A key aim is to achieve integrated catchment management, which will also
ensure that Council's relevant planning objectives and environmental outcomes
are met.
The five main sections (for each report) cover the following:
The nature of the catchment, such as its physical environment and its
built-up environment, such as its utilities
Key information and issues relating to stormwater management within the
catchment, such as flooding and erosion
Information on the state and quality of the natural environment in the
catchment. This material encompasses what is known about the natural
resources and the state of the environment and is based upon identified
issues and the options available to address those issues
Examination of matters related to the margins of waterways in the
catchment, including a commentary on options for mitigation of the key
issues.
