Community Consultation 2002
During 2002 Council worked on its new 10-year strategic plan. As part of
the community consultation
process Council talked to members of Waitakere City about their vision, key issues and priorities for the next ten years.
This work has now evolved into the development of the Long Term Council Community Plan
(LTCCP).
Introduction
|
As part of our process we have been canvassing residents to find out what they want in their City in the future. Thousands of people have given their views through the
Household Survey.
Others have written, while Councillors and
Community Boards have talked to literally hundreds of people in shopping malls, libraries, festivals, meetings and workshops.

A group of nominated community leaders were brought together specifically to provide guidance on the best means of consulting with the City's communities. After discussions with this group, key principles were defined for the consultation process:
- Speak to communities we do not normally speak to
- Take the consultation to the community
- Make consultation specific to the needs of each community group
- Combine processes where possible to prevent overload on
communities
Having now received all that input, we're developing a new Community Plan based on what you told us.
Below is a summary of the consultation programme and an indication of the communities' priorities.
