Waitakere is blessed with a unique biodiversity, or range
of plants, animals, habitats, and waters that hold a wide
range of flora and fauna.
Protecting our unique biodiversity is important to
Waitakere City Council and we have a number of initiatives
that we are using to help protect and enhance our natural
heritage.
Waitakere City Council has developed and undertakes:
Waitakere City Council undertakes monitoring of our
natural environment to learn what plants and animals we have
in the city, as well as how their populations and travel
habits change over time.
As well as biodiversity monitoring Council also monitors the
state of our city's environment through the
State of the
City Report.
