This site is on the flat where the Glen Esk stream enters the Piha
Stream in the Waitakere Ranges. The riparian margin has mature native
bush overhanging the stream and the bed of the stream is stony and well
shaded. There is a car park and recreation area adjacent to the stream
at the sample site. The water is clear and fast flowing.
This site was not sampled in the same way as the others in this
series. This may be reflected in the number of species shown below.
Olinga and some of the other species on this list were not found at the
other sites.
