EcoWise West
This year, the project is again targeting low-income
households whose occupants suffer from chronic illnesses,
which can be improved or eliminated if their home were
warmer and drier. Priority will also be given to large
families.
What is done to the houses?
The following energy efficiency improvements will be made
to the home if required: ceiling and floor insulation,
vapour barrier, hot water cylinder wrap, pipe insulation and
draught seals for windows and doors.
For
related information on energy efficiency in the home see
Ecomatters website.
What does it cost?
The homeowner will be asked to pay just $225 towards that
cost of the energy efficiency measures which are valued at
$2000 (Note: the $225 applies for community services card
holders only. Rental properties and those without a
community services card will be required to pay a higher
contribution (contact the Ecomatters Trust for a more
detailed cost)).

What are the selection criteria?
Homes will be selected on the basis of information
provided in the application form (and any additional
information, which may be sought). The objective is to
select homes where energy efficiency improvements will make
the greatest difference to the health and quality of life of
the occupants.
Who will carry out the
selection?
A selection committee has been established to evaluate
the applications. The committee will include health
specialists, representatives from the social services sector
and members of the local well-being community.

When is the deadline for
applications?
The application deadline is 5 pm on Friday 19 August.
